Four sections, 2 hours 47 minutes

The comprehension sections are scored up to 699 points each; the production sections are scored out of 20. Each section's result then converts to an NCLC level for the immigration file.

TCF Canada or TEF Canada: which one to choose?

Both tests are accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for the same applications: Express Entry, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades stream and the Canadian Experience Class. Neither is objectively "better": the choice mostly comes down to which organisation is easier to reach and which format suits you.

Frequently asked questions

I only speak English. Can I still prepare for a French exam here?

Yes — this is exactly who this page is for. Many English-speaking Cameroonians need the TCF Canada or TEF Canada purely for a Canada application, not for daily use. The course starts from your real French level, checked with the free level test.

How long does it take to go from B1 to B2 on the TCF Canada?

It depends on how much time you can put in each week and how consistently you attend. The free level test helps estimate a realistic timeline rather than quoting one number for everyone.

What is the difference with the TEF Canada?

See the detailed comparison above: both are recognised by IRCC for the same purpose, the organisations and formats differ.

What score should I aim for, for Express Entry?

It depends on the immigration programme you are targeting (Express Entry, skilled trades, Canadian experience) and the number of points you need. The full scale is published on canada.ca; we discuss it during your free consultation based on your file.

Where is the exam held in Yaounde?

The Institut français du Cameroun in Yaounde is on France Éducation International's official list of TCF centres. This list changes, so always confirm availability and dates directly with the organisation before enrolling.

How long are the results valid?

2 years from the issue date. For an Express Entry file, your results must be less than 2 years old when you submit.
